Diluted or not, I ache for it.

I would rinse you out and sip all of your insides.
Then I would drag your skeleton out of your skin.
Help me. Worm your way free.

I would jumble our bones together. Mix us up.
Not so we would be two with replaced bones.
No, I want us to have four arms, four legs. I want,
I want us to have two heads and a long twisted spine
Of vertebrate upon vertebrate.

Still thinking of the mermaid
Who ripped you into two.

Of wrong timings,

Of dilly-dallying.

It is just something to talk about

Nearly seven months later and he was still amazed at the silver glitter on his hand. He was never a guy to wear jewelry aside from a necklace here or there. Now he wore that ring every day.

At first, he wasn't sure if he'd ever get used to it, but it quickly became something he missed when he took it off for vigorous work. He felt naked without the ring on his finger.

“Are you ever going to stop playing with it?” Jane had been watching him roll the ring around his finger.

“Playing with what?” Todd looked up.

“Your ring. You've been fiddling with it for almost half an hour now.”

KnowledgeIn a fever dream, black dooms descending

He lies rapt in stupor.
The windows tilt from his halo, the dry
heat ticking, each death rattle measures light into
reflections- form a periscope. One eye is all
that is needed to see. People

stutter along streets, gloom draped. Voices
soften and stretch, heard through memory and dreaming-
one hundred shadowy watchers meld to tarmac. Only one enters.

Yard lights convulse, scald twilit moments, birds
settling on flares. He blinks,
old as time- skin a coral of waxes, leather from his own glow. Eyes,
molten yolks still glimmer beneath lids, fat sunken. She watches,

She disagreesA mesh of throbbing veins nests in the putrid den between my eyes,

A thing grown fat on sour blood and the opiate of wicked thoughts -

A thing that screams in rhythm with the grinding of nails ‘gainst the swollen

Lining of my ill-conceived liar’s skull - better used had it collapsed in the womb.

Innocent, the lashed lamb reaches out for soft, withered hands,

And begs to bathe in the warmth of arms rife with unfulfilled promises.

Long-forgotten mirth clings to her lover’s ribs like torn cellophane,

Pluck’d, worthless and left to flail in the wind – tattered reminders

Layers upon layers of petrichor upon violence,
I can't stop this spiral,
I tried to write a poem with some hint of structure
But it's you,

It's that rain,

I wish I could tell you what I kept thinki

I thought it might sound pretentious,
assuming,
desperate.

though you wouldn't have heard me,
even if those words had been said.
and even if those words had been said,
your parrot voice would have merely
returned them to me in a gentle, dumb,
answering machine welcome message.

every time we talked,
there was the fear of shattering you.

you were my glass boy, a boy who was
breakable, yet malleable to the heat
of torched pressure.

but still there was me,
foolishly following the glass boy
wherever he might go.

one day my soul slipped in your puddled irises

Next, out to get the newspaper
and heckle the meth dealers next door.

I love so much about this it's hard to pick specific bits, but here are some.

"Let's be sleep drunk. And drunk drunk too."

So much unf here.
The only thing that irks me is that I can't figure out which one is for who.
